Linux Setup

To connect a Linux system to the eduroam wireless network, the client must have a web browser installed and running both a desktop environment and network-manager.

Only automated installs are supported on Linux clients. If the automated install fails, please use the ncsu wireless network.

Step 1

Click the Wireless icon on the the bottom right hand corner of your screen to display available wireless networks. Select ncsu.

Step 2

Open a Browser and go to https://go.ncsu.edu/eduroam. Click Enroll your device in eduroam.

Step 3

You should see a screen with your operating system already chosen. Make sure Linux is selected. Click on JoinNow.

Step 4

You will be prompted to or will automatically download a script called SecureW2_JoinNow.run. Click Save File if prompted.

Step 5

Open a Terminal window and navigate to the downloaded file.

Type in sh SecureW2_JoinNow.run and press Enter to run the script file. Note: Do not run the script as root or sudo.

Step 6

Hit enter to launch the login screen when prompted to sign-in.

 

On the Shibboleth login page: Enter your credentials and select Log In. Accept the Duo Prompt (if enabled).

 

Step 7

Once the install script completes and the terminal output indicates Joined… the device is setup. The Wireless icon will display a connection to eduroam.
